Directions

Eleuthera is a magical island in the Bahamas, just a short flight from several Florida airports. There are 3 airports on the island; however, we highly recommend North Eluethera or Governors Harbor airports. Please follow the instructions below before booking your travel.

FLIGHTS

JetBlue: JetBlue offers frequent flights to each of Eluethera’s airports, with a layover (typically Fort Lauderdale, Florida). The flight from Florida to Eluethera is on a small 30-passenger plane, which will only allow you to bring ONE carry-on, in addition to your checked baggage. If you plan to have two carry-ons for the first leg of your trip, make sure you feel comfortable checking one of them for this 1-hour journey to Eleuthera! Note: Flights can be purchased as soon as mid-March 2019.

Delta (and other major airlines): Delta also has flights to Eleuthera but only on very limited days, which is not ideal for the dates of our wedding. Alternatively, you can book a flight on any major airline to Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and book a separate flight from FLL to Eleuthera on Silver Airways. There are likely several options to consider!

North Eleuthera Airport (ELH): Several fights per day fly in and out of ELH airport, which is approximately an hour drive north of Governors Harbor, where all wedding festivities will be. **RECOMMENDED (see below for taxis and rental car options)

Governors Harbor Airport (GHB): This airport is located approximately 10 minutes from our wedding location. However, there are a limited number of flights, weekly. Last we checked, flights arrived on Thursday and departed the island on Saturday, which is not ideal for the weekend events. **RECOMMENDED (see below for taxis and rental car options)

Rock Sound International Airport (RSD): RSD is approximately 45 minutes south of the wedding festivities. Last we checked, there were no flights there on JetBlue.

RENTAL CARS

There are several rental car companies that serve the island, but we highly recommend our new friend, Arthur Turnquest! Please call or email Arthur directly to secure your rental. For an additional (nominal) fee, he will meet you at North Eleuthera airport. Arthur will not only orient you to your rental car, but also the island.

We have rooms reserved at Squires Landing, Belmont, and Squires Estates, which are three nearby properties. Each has multiple houses, cottages, and pools on the property with beautiful views. The properties are close to town and walkable to grocery and liquor stores, the fish fry, both the Caribbean and the Atlantic Ocean, as well as one of our favorite restaurants and breakfast spots!

ROOM RATES are $85 per night, per person. We are working with the property manager to determine how best to pay and we will be in touch!

If you want to extend your stay, please let us know and we can help coordinate with the property manager!

SQUIRES & BELMONT

Hayes Avenue
Governors Harbor | Eleuthera, Bahamas

There’s much to do in Governors Harbor and surrounding areas! We hope you explore the island and fall in love with it’s beautiful landscape, culture, and people as we did! Here's a small sampling of the things you can do in the area! We learned about these spots through Joy and Dom, new friends who help manage Squires and Belmont!

Eat & Drink

Two of our favorite spots include Buccaneer Club, which is steps away from Squires and Belmont, as well as Tippy’s (a short drive or taxi away). We recommend Tippy’s on Friday night after the fish-fry for those who want to keep the party going!

Play

Check out Harbor Water Adventures to rent jet skis, kayaks, snorkel gear, etc., which operates out of Buccaneer Club. Eleuthera Adventure Tours is located an hour south, and has dune buggy and bike rentals, sunset boat rides, paddle tours, etc. Leon Levy Native Plant Preserve is a beautiful place to walk/hike and learn about local plants; it’s approximately 2 miles away.

Explore

Explore the beautiful beaches on both the Caribbean and Atlantic. Some of our favorites include French Leave Beach (closet to the properties and location of our ceremony), Alabaster Beach, Twin Cove, and Ten Bay. For a longer drive, explore Lighthouse Beach.
